My name is Alex Puccio and I am a 25 year old professional climber living in Boulder, CO. I grew up in Dallas, TX and was introduced to climbing at the age of 13. I started climbing as a youth competitor shortly after and was quickly recognized for my natural talent and raw strength. I won the title at the 2006 ABS Nationals, which was my first professional adult competition I entered. This was only 3 years after I started climbing.
I am the current U.S. National Champion for bouldering and I've held that title for the past 9 years. In 2009 I won an International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) World Cup in Vail, Colorado. It was only the second year that a Bouldering World Cup was held in the US, and with that win I managed to beat top-ranked competitors with years of experience on the circuit. In 2011 I began traveling around the world on the IFSC World Cup Bouldering Circuit. I have been a regular in finals and on the podium, and have earned the overall season rankings of 3rd (2011), 5th (2012), 3rd (2013) and am currently ranked 5th for 2014. Most recently I took 2nd place at the 2014 Bouldering World Championships and defended my title for the 3rd year in row by taking 1st place in the 2014 Arco Rockmasters bouldering competition. I have won 9 major international bouldering competitions in total.
My main career goal is to become overall champion in the IFSC bouldering world cups. What this means is that my results at each event are calculated and I am scored and ranked against the other women for the entire season. I have come very close in years past and I will not stop until I achieve my goal! This year I have been taking my training and preparation to a whole new level. I am working closely with a my coach Justen Sjong and have been making major progress both physically and mentally.
I have been one of the only U.S. competitors to consistently compete in the IFSC world cup competitions. Slowly that is changing and I want to inspire more American climbers to compete internationally. I strongly believe achieving my goal of becoming 1st overall for the 2015 season would give the USA the reputation it deserves! I want to show the world that US competitors can not only be competitive with but beat the worlds best athletes.
Each year I find it harder and harder to financially to make it to every competition. The competitions seem to get further and further and travel accomodations get more and more expensive. Although I love the life I live and wouldn't trade it for anything being a professional climber has allowed me to live a very modest lifestyle at best. I just can't afford to compete in the entire World Cup season all on my own anymore. That's why I am asking for support from you to help me achieve my dreams and represent my country to the best of my ability!
I appreciate each and everyone of you that does offer a donation and ask that you share my Rally via social media and don't forget to use the social media share buttons on this page!
Thanks! :)
Alex Puccio

If I had to pick a climber that I tune it to watch... it's Alex. Other athletes get paid millions for their entertainment value. Donating to more entertainment sounds like a win for everyone. Good luck! |
